As a dog owner, you will know how hard it is to stay no to your fur baby when they are begging for some of your food. I mean, come on, look at those puppy big ol' eyes! And, sometimes, it seems like your dog knows want to do to make your will cave in, giving them some of your food.

But, before you invite your pup to the dinner party, it is essential that you understand what you can, and can't, give your dog. Because even though all food is delicious to humans, some foods can be dangerous to their health. Here are 5 table foods that are the healthiest for your dog.

1.) Rice
Has your puppy been having upset tummy problems? Does your dog need help to maintain a healthy weight? Then rice is the perfect solution. Boiled until it is well-cooked, rice is rich in carbohydrates and can help alleviate upset stomachs. But it also contains iron for richer blood, vitamin B3, and vitamin D.

Perfect for daily consumption, rice doesn't contain cholesterol and sodium. It will leave your dog feeling fuller for longer, curbing their appetite and helping them maintain a healthy weight. Remember to give your furry babies enough water with their rice meals.

2.) Yogurt (Sugar-Free / Un-Sweetened)
Are you planning a relaxed day at home with your furry baby? Are you looking for a healthy treat you both can enjoy? It doesn't matter if it's cold or room temperature. Sugar-free yogurt is the perfect treat for you and your pup.

Not only is yogurt rich in calcium, but it is also loaded with probiotics to help fight off infections (while enhancing the digestion of food). And, if you own a larger breed of dog (or if your dog's breed is prone to arthritis or other hip and joint issues), the calcium in the yogurt is the perfect way to help promote bone health.

3.) Peanuts and Peanut Butter
Just like with their owners, your furry baby sometimes needs a little extra protein - which is why peanuts and peanut butter are great. Not only are they loaded with protein, but they are also chock full of vitamins B and E.

Raw and unsalted peanuts and peanut butter give your dog access to healthy fats and niacin, and many other beneficial nutrients! Help manage your dog's fat intake by feeding them small to moderate portions of peanuts and peanut butter.

4.) Oatmeal
Filled with oats, a whole grain loaded with carbohydrates, Oatmeal is rich in vitamin B5, Omega 6 fatty acid (for healthy skin), and soluble fiber. Another great thing about Oatmeal is that it will help your dog keep healthy bowls. If your dog is allergic to wheat (an ingredient in many dog foods), you can use Oatmeal as a substitute to help meet your furry baby's daily fiber intake. Super easy and quick to make, Oatmeal is delicious and filled with the essential nutrients and fiber your furry baby needs in their day-to-day diets - make sure you never add sugar or other additives.

5.) Salmon
Did you know that fish is included in high-end dog food for a reason? When it comes to fish, Salmon is whole with low-fat proteins and omega-3 fatter acids - which is what makes it great and suitable for growing dogs.

But, if Salmon is outside your budget, tons of alternatives have all the same nutrients but are cheaper (like herring and tuna). When feeding your dog salmon, It is important to remember that your dog's salmon intake should be monitored - closely focusing on ensuring that there are no bones.

6.) Chicken
If fish is too expensive, but you still want to make sure your fur baby gets all the delicious nutrients they need, then Chicken is the perfect alternative (make sure your pup isn't allergic).

Chicken is one of the best sources of lean protein, Omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamin D - and it's just as healthy as fish (when served unseasoned and without fat). And just like all foods that can be served to dogs safely, Chicken should be cooked and completely unseasoned.
